Dale's first novel, FRIENDS AND OTHER PERISHABLES, is a tale of misplaced trust, betrayal, and greed in which a dedicated family man tries to balance his home life with his increasingly dangerous career.
REVIEWS
"PI Carl Jacobs is launched on the case of his life when an old friend starts shooting at him for no apparent reason. Winding his way through an investigation replete with twists, turns, and uncanny surprises, Carl eventually tumbles onto a complex scam so valuable that some people are willing to do anything to protect it—including doing away with nosy detectives. Dale Whisman's thrill-packed novel grabs you in the first paragraph and never lets you go. An outstanding debut."
William Bernhardt
Author of the best selling Ben Kincaid series
"Dale's Private Eye, Carl Jacobs in FRIENDS, AND OTHER PERISHABLES follows the tradition of Spencer and Marlow and other PIs of the genre—the hard-baked detective with a heart. The action is fast-paced, the writing quirky and entertaining, and the plot more twisting than a dark mountain road. Dale may well be a rising star in the mystery field."
Charles W. Sasser
Author of the best selling Detachment Delta series
“…exciting private investigative tale contains a strong mystery… solid cozy starring a likable champion who handles being shot at and wounded with aplomb, but goes a bit crazy when his family comes under attack.”
Harriet Klausner
The Readers Guild
Rated 10 out of 10 – a recommended read
"... measured first person narrative is packed with interesting details about investigative work and about his home life with Sherry and their young daughters: a refreshing rarity in the genre."
Kirkus Reviews
"Whisman spins a good story and has created a likeable, credible hero and a supporting cast with good depth and a promise of staying power that bodes well for future appearances."
Robert C. Hahn
Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine
"This novel has two things going for it, a high degree of believability and a likeable leading man. The book's believability no doubt springs from Whisman's eleven-year career as a licensed P.I. No Superman, Jacobs bleeds when he's wounded (which is often) and gets antsy during stakeouts. Jacob's likeability comes from Whisman's skill at rendering his character's interactions with family, friends, and fellow professionals, and the feeling the author conveys that Jacobs withholds nothing from readers."

Statuesque
Things were going fine for Karen until she was seduced by Nikki, her best friend and college roommate. What disturbed Karen most about the lesbian experience was the knowledge that she found pleasure in it. In a desperate move to re-define her sexual orientation she dates an impatient campus stud, and finds herself the victim of date rape. In confusion Karen retreats within herself, avoiding relationships of any kind, until she encounters a two-hundred-year-old porcelain nude figurine which has a dramatic effect on all who see it.
Are You From Down The Road?
A Play in Two Acts
A young Korean War veteran travels to a small Arkansas village to learn more about his deceased father, and perhaps a little about his own 'hill-country' ancestors. What he finds is a family of women with a dark and terrible secret, a town unwilling to forgive, and a murdered man with no mourners.

He joins forces with a discredited former CIA agent to combat common enemies—a group of ruthless businessmen who deal in narcotics, and a beautiful young psychopath who uses her body as a tool and fire as a weapon.
FIRST WALK IN MY SHOES
This is the story of Justin, a young Jewish man working as a talent agent in Hollywood. Justin is reminded of his Jewish heritage when he is suddenly confronted by the death of his friend and mentor, and finds himself caught in the middle of an ongoing battle between Palestinian terrorists and a couple of Israeli Mossad agents, all seeking to recover a fortune in diamonds which were smuggled out of Germany during WWII. And everyone knows that Justin has access to the diamonds.
Justin's initial response to the death of his friend is to personally seek revenge against the perpetrators. But his resolve weakens considerably when he finds out just how bloody the fight can really be.
